5. How will I know if something happens to my spouse?
You will be contacted by your unit Commander.
6. Who do I contact if there is an emergency?
Contact the Unit Commander, Rear Detachment Commander, or the Unit Staff Duty Officer.
7. How can I get a message to my deployed Soldier?
Relay information through the Unit Commander, Rear Detachment Commander, or the Unit Staff Duty Officer.
8. Can I pick up mail for my deployed Soldier?
Your Soldier needs to fill out a PS-3801,available at the Unit mailroom, to authorize you to pick up mail. If the soldier is already deployed, if you have a written consent from the Soldier, you may also arrange to have mail picked up. A Power of Attorney is also acceptable.
9. Can I send mail to my Soldier? What is the address?
Mail service is currently not offered to the deployment region. Once mail service is established, you will be notified by the unit commander/rear detachment commander of the appropriate address to use.
10. Are there other ways I can communicate with my Soldier?
As of this moment, there is no e-mail or phone connectivity available in the theater that your Soldier would have routine access to. We recommend that, prior to deployment, you obtain a Guest Account at Army Knowledge Online (you will need to have your Soldier verify this account online in order to activate it), so that if/when e-mail does become available, you will have an address to send it to.
11. Will I lose any benefits if my spouse deploys?
Soldiers will not receive Separate Rations once deployed. Otherwise, there will be no changes to benefits. Soldiers will see a paycheck gain of $3.50 for each day deployed.
13. If my spouse has a pay problem, who can I call?
If a Soldier has a pay problem, only the Soldier can submit a pay inquiry. The Soldier will have to submit the pay inquiry form to his/her S-1 for processing. If the Soldier gave the spouse a Power of Attorney, there are a few things the spouse can arrange directly with Finance, like get a copy of LES.
14. I need to update my off-post lease. How can I do this?
Your Soldier will need to ensure their spouse has a power of attorney (general or specific for housing rental agreements) so that the spouse can go to Housing to extend their lease with a copy of the Soldier's approved extension. If the Soldier is single, he/she should provide a specific POA to a trusted comrade who can take care of this for the Soldier.
15. Who is my Family Readiness Group (FRG) Point of Contact?

17. Who else in my unit has children?
Your unit Rear Detachment Commander or FRG Point of Contact will be able to provide you a list of everyone in your unit with children.
18. What family activities are coming up?
Family activities vary by unit and will be publicized in advance.
19. Where can I find my Community Calendar?
Community calendar information can be found by reading the Morning Calm newspaper which is published each Friday. Each individual Area Support Activity also publishes their area activities. Area II for instance has a Community Connection magazine that is published monthly, and is available at PXs, commissaries, and shoppettes.
20. What activities are going on at the Dragon Hill Lodge?
Dragon Hill Lodge activities are available from their monthly newsletter at their web site.
